dd50 is ok ,can manual aim to sink it and it dont have scout to keep a distance

Precisely why I recommend to adjust size (and some speed) of CL18 premium to be in line with other CLs - DDs are same speed but not (very) unbalanced.

Of course this will draw a lot of rage from CL18 premium users.

  3. I would suggest to just enlarge them to CL standard size and reduce speed halfway between DD and CL as it is next to impossible to hit one, even with manual guns if it keeps its distance from the bigger ships. Same applies to all premium CL18s not only Texas. In general, while fun to play, are a bit unbalanced.

DD50s are also very fast, strong and have torpedoes/hhs but because of their physical size are very vulnerable to CAs and BBs (as they should be).

S Gorskov: Don't know which Swedish ships you mean, but most navies had monitors, many with BB guns (2 UK monitors even had 18"), for coastal operations, but these were not blue water vessels or meant for ship to ship action - only shore bombardment and army support.

  4. I got my 2/2 "master of mankind" after a battle where i did some major damage (>80k I think) and without taking any damage, I don't know if this is the requirement.

I don't remember how or when I got the 1/2 but it was early in the game.

  5. I bought the BB (Gneisenau), but the lvl50 DD was not in the game at that time. I guess it's up to you and your game style. Another thing to consider is that you can vet the DD pretty fast (I did 2-3 days playing a couple of hours per day) while the BB will take ages (4000xp for vet BB captain in Germany) and also DD upgrades are considerably cheaper in steel compared to BB.

If you grind the BB for exp and don't buy experienced crew with gold you will hit lvl 55 before vetting the BB, another thing to consider if you aim to get the 55 lvl SS or CV.

In conclusion: I would get the DD as it's lots of fun, then save steel for lvl 55 SS or the lvl 50 BB (I'm not a CV guy).

PS sorry for complicating things more instead of helping

PS2 what nation are you playing?

  6. Haven't got 1% of the experience with subs compared to aethiopicus (or the skill yet) but from what I've seen with the VIIC (4 bow, 1 stern tube, ~7k hull) subs depend much more to player skill than any other class. The 4 bow tubes do enough damage to sink or cripple any ship except armoured BBs (more on this when I vet the crew) and with good approach and manoeuvring can kill even higher lvl subs.

  7. Problem is that you may not be the only fleet in your timezone but you don't know it until you spam the global chat with wof requests.

Fleets are not active in war of fleets out of fear of a completely unbalanced battle, especially the weaker ones - the result is that wof rarely happens now while it should be central to the game.

a daily task or two for wof would also encourage some fleet action.

  8. I think it's time to change the war of fleets system to better reflect what fleets actually try to do.

Fleets should be able to setup specific battles with options for min/max No of ships, max No of ships of each class and max ship level cap. For example:

players 4-7, DD up to 7, CL up to 7, CA up to 5, BB up to 2, CV up to 1, SS up to 2, Max ship level 70.

Challenging fleet should be able to further restrict rules to reflect their abilities. For the above example they may reduce players to 5 and ship level cap to 41 excluding all BBs, CVs, SSs and lvl 50 DDs. At that point leader/officer of first fleet should decide which players to drop from his fleet.

Option A: In order to keep some variety, putting up one of BB, CV, SS could also put lower limit of other high classes to 1 (not 0) or,

Option B: treat BB, CV and SS as a group with a common max No.

This way we may again see fleets put up for battle and waiting for battle instead of trying to pick and set a fight in global chat.

Before the fight starts (e.g. at 30sec countdown) every participating player (abandoning any other action at the time - see relative thread "wof countdown") should be taken to a war of fleets screen to pick their ship.

I would prefer the basic idea, without any of the options (A or B) but anything will be better than the current system.

  9. Couldn't wait for full outfit so I took her out with 2 Eng, 1 Main Gun, 1 Armour.

I was impressed as I managed some 50% damage on a super Yamato before I went down. I kept broadsiding at extreme range doing a little damage every time. Yamato had to turn her bow onto me and close the distance to hit and eventually sink me. In all I must have put 5-6 broadsides on her and taken around 4 from her front turrets.

By the amount of damage taken every hit the yamato should be at least 2 stars - but could be my lack of deck armour as well.

  10. Good idea. Something needs to be done, it's getting ridiculous scrolling from one side to the other to find a ship.

As Neuer said, pre-select classes, or make a port view with all ships visible at dock. the graphics are there from the battle views, just put them all in a screen with some port graphics, names on top much like battle screen and make them selectable to see further details.

  11. I just got the Bismark and building her up.

I'm inclined to go 3 Engine, 1 Main Gun, 1 Sec Gun, 3 Armour any thoughts?

PS: I think the FCS bonus to sight/radar range a joke so I won't go that road unless someone convinces me otherwise.

  12. I'm sure i read somewhere that when Rodney closed in on Bismark (2.7km according to Wikipedia) could not train her main guns low enough to hit at the waterline and was only ripping apart the superstructure. Similarly Yamato in Leyte gulf could only fire her main guns above the US destroyers sent to create a smoke screen.

  13. Further speed control - a "half speed" setting would be a nice addition.

I find it that some times it would be useful to reduce speed in order to position ship better within fleet or to control torpedo firing distance of the sub - especially after the torpedo minimum distance update.

  14. To be honest I'm a bit biased against CVs so my thinking is not to their best interests...You are right blindness is too extreme and will not work for another reason: imagine trying to locate that last fleeing enemy without scouts. my aim was to give them some AA protection but reduce their accuracy for balance, or something like that. If not completely overcast a lot more and bigger clouds will add to complexity as ships will have another variable to consider.

What I really want to recommend is to set conditions that force players to adapt their playing style, not cripple some ships beyond competency. It needs more thinking over. If for example reduced speed and accuracy is crippling to DDs and CLs give them another advantage such as torpedoes that do not leave a clear track behind them or even make smaller ships harder to see and track in the rough weather.

To that end (and probably easier to implement) is to add some shallow water around islands that only the light ships can navigate.

Of course these suggestions won't make some players stop charging blindly - but add a dimension to these who incorporate some tactics in their game.

  15. basically an online battle where only fleet members can participate and without any rewards.

I second, would be nice and useful to have.

To take it a step further why not add a fleet campaign? Set scenarios where several ships should work together to win.

  16. How about adding some weather / time of day effects selected at random at the start of any battle? For example:

    1. Fair weather - as it is now

    2. Choppy - speed/aim penalty for the smaller ships - say 6 kn for DDs, 3-4 for Cls

    3. overcast/low clouds - planes invisible at height but with severe aim penalties and even chance to get lost

    4. night - very limited visual range for all down to a minimum say 1000, would be nice to add radar image on main screen to compensate (a fading ghost/green outline of ship whenever radar beam "sees" it)

I think it will add a dimension to the game as different conditions will require different tactics.

Would not suggest severe weather (e.g. storms) that would cripple some ships.

I know it won't be easy to implement but would be a nice future adjustment.

  17. Would be nice to have a war of fleets announcement (much like the join online battle tab when out of combat) during online battle/harbor assault/operations etc. with the option to be taken out of current action to join the war of fleets.

Also ship confirmation - last minute ship change as most people will use different ships for online and wof.

More extremely, there shouldn't even be an option, whenever war of fleets starts every selected player should move there abandoning any other action.
